THANET FOUNDATION ACADEMY

The Thanet Foundation Academy runs on a Monday night at the Hartsdown Academy 3G pitch. We run squads from the ages of under 7 to under 10.

The foundation academy sessions will provide structured professional coaching sessions for youth players in the under 7 to under 10 age groups.

The academy is structured so that we have 3 levels at each age group: Foundation, Development and Elite. The foundation academies are the entry level to the academy and can lead to progression into the development and Elite academies.

Our training sessions are built around our TSC DNA which is a training programme designed to deliver a technical programme for youth football players, the programme is designed differently for each age group. The younger players will always work in smaller numbers with a large emphasis on having a high ball contact time, as players become older there is a shift from technical work into tactical and strength & conditioning work to keep them developing from aged 6 to adulthood. Our DNA is structured around helping players develop their 1v1 attacking, passing ability, creativity, ability to use both feet, 1v1 defending, defending as a team and also transition.

Our structure of having 3 levels to the academy means we can fit players into a level we believe will benefit their development the most.

Foundation level – this is the entry point to the academy and provides structured coaching sessions for local football players. These sessions are to teach the basic technical skills and tactical understanding that are required for players to develop their football ability. This is an extra training session to help develop players.

Development & Elite Level – These sessions are invite only, the strongest players from the foundation academy are often invited, players are also scouted directly at the weekends by our scouting teams. Elite and development squad players receive an extra coaching session as well as participating in matches and tours.

HERNE BAY FOUNDATION ACADEMY

The Herne Bay Academy runs on Thursday nights at Herne Bay High School. We run squads from the ages of under 7 to under 10.

These sessions will provide structured professional coaching sessions for youth players in the under 7 to under 10 age groups, starting 9th June at Herne Bay High School. We currently have one foundation academy in Thanet which has proved hugely successful over the years. But with the distance between Thanet and Faversham academies being quite far and with some players not being able to train on certain nights we have decided to open another venue in Herne Bay.

The academy is structured so that we have 3 levels at each age group: Foundation, Development and Elite. The foundation academies are the entry level to the academy and can lead to progression into the development and Elite academies. The Herne Bay session can feed players into either the Thanet (Monday) or Faversham (Fridays) Elite/Development sessions.
